Carbon electrodes are used in metallurgy in electric furnace steelmaking. It is important to know that there are many factors that affect the quality of steel during smelting, and the quality of carbon electrodes will also affect steel. According to different production conditions, the types of carbon electrodes used are also different. In order to deepen everyone's understanding of carbon electrodes and apply them to appropriate fields, we should also have a broader understanding of carbon electrodes.
The carbon electrode is made of low-ash anthracite, metallurgical coke, pitch coke and petroleum coke as raw materials. It is composed of a certain proportion and particle size. When mixing, add binder pitch and tar, stir evenly at an appropriate temperature, and press it into shape. Slowly roasted in a roasting furnace.
Ordinary power graphite electrodes allow the use of graphite electrodes with a current density of less than 17A/cm2, which are mainly used in ordinary power electric furnaces for steelmaking, silicon making, and yellow phosphorus making.
Anti-oxidation coating The surface of the graphite electrode is coated with a protective layer (graphite electrode antioxidant) that is both conductive and resistant to high temperature oxidation, which reduces electrode consumption during steelmaking, prolongs the service life of the electrode, and reduces the electrode's power consumption.
High-power graphite electrodes allow the use of graphite electrodes with a current density of 18A/cm2, which are mainly used in high-power electric arc furnaces for steelmaking.
It can be seen that different types of carbon electrodes have different applications, and only a broader understanding of carbon electrodes can be used in appropriate fields.
